The End of Batman.
This blog post contains massive spoilers from The Dark Knight Rises. If you haven't seen it yet, do not read this post. I repeat, if you haven't seen the movie yet, don't read this post. Thank you.
(Don't say I didn't warn ya!)
And so...I have seen The Dark Knight Rises. I have seen the final installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. I have seen the "epic conclusion". And...
1. It was one hell of an experience.
2.It was awesome.
3. It was mind-fucking-blowing.
4. It was everything I had not expected.
5. It was beyond anything I ever imagined.
Well, what can I say? Christopher Nolan is a genius. Didn't we already know that? His Batman movies are the only Batman movies that are worth watching. Batman Begins, The Dark Knight were bloody amazing. And TDKR was as amazing as the first two movies. It was so great words fail me. I couldn't find the right words to express the way I feel after watching this movie. TDKR left me breathless, I had to learn how to breathe again. It left me speechless, I had to learn how to speak again. So many memorable dialogues / quotes. So many memorable scenes.. This movie adds to another reason why Nolan is such an incredible director. He's one of my all-time favourites. :)
(Here comes the spoilers...)
When I first knew Liam Neeson would make a re-appearance in this movie, I was ecstatic. I loved Ra's al Ghul. He was like, Batman's ultimate enemy. He died in Batman Begins, so I thought he'd come back for the dead. He didn't. What a let down, lol! He came in as a ghost to warned Bruce about Bane and what will Bane do to destroy Batman & Gotham. You see, Bane was a member of the League of Shadows, just like Bruce was. But he was kicked out of the league because he was "potentially hazardous" & extremely dangerous. Eventhough Ra's al Ghul was in the movie for like, 10 seconds... It made me happy. ;)
Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle. I loved this lady. And I loved Selina Kyle. She was awesome. Very slick. She can fight with men twice her size. She had mad skillzzz... Though I hated her when she betrayed Bruce by bringing him into Bane's trap.... And I hated her for one thing, and one thing only; she got to kiss Bruce..... TWICE. >.<
Tom Hardy as Bane. Man, I love Tom Hardy! Bane was monstrous but.....he was Tom Hardy! It was impossible to hate him no matter how evil he was! Haha. Bane was, unlike Batman's other villains, the strongest of all. But what kind of a human does not have a weakness? Bane's weakness was, well.......His face mask. (Bane's surgically implanted mask supplies pain-killing gas that is essential in managing the agony generated by an old and savage injury.) People were complaining that they couldn't make out what Bane was saying most of the time due to his Darth Vader-like mask, but I could hear him all right. Those people probably had some serious ear problems. Tom Hardy was a perfect Bane. Two thumbs up!
Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate. I hated Miranda Tate. She was not Miranda Tate. She was Talia al Ghul, Ra's al Ghul's daughter. She was born in the "underground prison" a.k.a hell. (A prison where Bane kept Bruce for like, 3+ months after breaking his bones. Poor Batman...) She was the "child who escaped from hell". I thought it was Bane at first. Bruce also thought the child was Bane, but it turned to be Miranda. I've been fooled. Lol! And Bane was the one who helped her escape the prison when she was a child, and she loved him. And the scene where Bane cried........ Bane, the monster, cried. He was human after all. And fuck Miranda I hated her! She slept with Bruce Wayne, and Bruce loved her (for a while) and all she did was betray him.... THANK GOD SHE DIED! Lol.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake. OMGGG THIS CHARACTER WAS THE MOST SURPRISING OF ALL!!!! Never in a million years would have I thought that John Blake was actually.......... *drum rolls* ROBIN. His full name was revealed during the scene where he tried to retrieved his bag by using his name John Blake. The name wasn't in the record. Then he asked the receptionist to use his real name by giving her his ID, and the girl said "I like your name.... Robin." And my heart stopped for 3 seconds. Robin John Blake. I had feelings that this Blake guy wasn't just a part of Gotham Police Department. He was actually more than that. When he met up with Bruce at the Wayne's mansion and when he revealed that he knew Batman's true identity, I knew that this guy was something else. :')
There were several scenes that made me teary-eyed. The first one was when Alfred talked to Bruce in Batcave, before he shaved and all..... Alfred had always been one of my favourite characters in Batman. He was a father figure with a sense of humour. And what he said to Bruce was, tears-inviting. Lol! The second sad scene was when Alfred & Bruce said goodbye. Alfred cried, and Bruce was in tears as well. It was heart-wrenching seeing an old man like Alfred cried. :'( And the third one was when Bruce was lying on bed in the underground prison, watching the news on tv, witnessing the fall of Gotham. He cried because he realized there was nothing he could do to help. Bane broke his bones, he could barely stand. Seeing Batman in such state was unbearable. :""""(
Some scenes towards the end of the movie were amazing.... James Gordon finally knew who Batman really was. Bruce reminded him of the day when he put his coat on a child who just lost his parents.... "Bruce Wayne." OH MY HEART. :')
BATMAN DIED!!!!!
Lol no. He didn't. He was Batman. Batman can't die! I borrowed this from Wikipedia: "In the aftermath of the explosion, the world believes Batman to be dead, and Bruce Wayne to have been one of the casualties of the riot. As his estate is divided up, Alfred witnesses Bruce and Selina together, alive in a cafe in Florence, Italy, while John Blake, whose first name revealed to be Robin, inherits the Batcave."
Hmmm can I just go see TDKR again?
